FAQ

ABOUT THE SHOW

What is National Geographic’s Beyond King Tut?

Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience is a cinematic immersive exhibition that takes guests on a journey to one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time. Journey to modern-day Egypt and see wonders of the ancient world like the Temple at Karnak and the Great Sphinx. Experience ancient history come to life and gaze at the Egyptian sun as it rises above the Pyramids of Giza, filling the sky with vivid color.

Travel back in time 3,000 years to the 18th dynasty when King Tut ruled and gods like Ra and Anubis were worshiped by all. Descend into King Tut’s tomb, 100 years since its historic discovery and join him in his quest for immortality. Experience all of this and more in a story 3,000 years in the making.

Will there be artifacts on display?

Beyond King Tut is not an artifact exhibition. It is a dramatic and immersive projection experience that takes visitors back in time and into the world of Tutankamun in an exciting new way. The experience starts with a journey that winds visitors through visual galleries to learn about the king’s life, descend into his tomb, and even enter a recreation of his burial chamber. The final room greets visitors with soaring projections of King Tut’s treasures, larger than life with the most cutting-edge clarity available, showcasing all the exquisite detail and artistry of these ancient items.

Beyond King Tut goes BEYOND a traditional artifact display and uses the power of photography and multimedia to create a time traveling adventure of discovery!

How is this exhibition different from other immersive shows?

National Geographic’s Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience is the next generation of visual storytelling exhibitions. Our goal is to use this powerful platform — with multiple rooms of discovery — to transport visitors into the past through a unique narrative of this 3,000 year old story.
